101: South Africa: A Country of Cultural Mosaics

Join the Grannies as they travel to the new South Africa and visit the major cities -- Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg. Walk through historically important museums and galleries, meet artists, musicians and everyday people in their homes.

102: South Africa - On Safari!

Travel with the Grannies as they explore wildlife at Kapama Private Game Reserve. Trek to the land of the San people at Kagga Kamma, where they view 6,000 year old cave drawings. Meet the real elephant that is featured in their book "The Search for Jabulani's Family". Mokena a Zulu guide takes them through the world-famous Lesedi Cultural Center.

103: Discovering the Wonders of Morocco

The Grannies explore this North Africa country bounded by the Atlantic Ocean, Sahara Desert and Atlas Mountains. Come aboard as they ride camels in the Sahara and partake in a huge feast at the home of Berbers in their middle-Atlas mountaintop enclave. Experience the magic the blue city (Fes), the white city (Casablanca) and the pink city (Marrakech). Highlights - Jamaa El Fina Square in Marrakech, goats in the trees on and the beautiful fishing village of Essaouria.

104: Istanbul - Ancient Crossroads

The Grannies travel to Istanbul, the confluence of the great Christian, Moslem and Byzantine cultures. Framed by its seas - the Marmara, Black Sea, Mediterranean and the mysterious Bosporus, Istanbul is considered home of one of the wonders of the world - Hagia Sofia. Straddling both Asia and Europe, the country is full of the ancient and modern, ruins and culture. They visit the Blue Mosque, view ancient Roman underground cistern ruins, and see the treasures of Topkapi Palace. Pat and Regina meet with three famous Turkish artists and Bedri Baykam, internationally known visual artist, filmmaker and writer.

105: Japan - The Contemporary and the Ancient

The Grannies travel to the "Land of the Rising Sun" - Japan. They journey to two of Japan's greatest cities - Tokyo and Kyoto. The visit great temples, fabulous restaurants and new 21st century structures including the Rappongi Hills. During their visit, The Grannies toured one of the leading Anime studios and saw previews of upcoming video programs. Of course, they had time for a little Karaoke in Tokyo before they departed.

106: Korea - Off the Beaten Path

The Grannies go off the beaten path to explore Korea. They visit Seoul, with its bustling cultural assets including world-class museums and galleries that make the country come alive. The renowned World Ceramics Center, and the Korean Folk Village where ancient dwellings have been created to demonstrate how life was in the 15th through 18th-centuries, was a highlight. Temples dot the provinces of the country and they visit many historical ones. Korea House was a culinary feast and highlight of Seoul.

201: Ottawa - Canada's Best Kept Secret

The Grannies explore Ottawa, the beautiful Capital of Canada. They visit historic Parliament Hill and marvel at the splendor of the changing of the guard, taste prize-winning barbeque, visit a one-of-its-kind Aboriginal display, and take an evening boat ride along the pristine Ottawa River. Marvel as the Grannies navigate their way out of a cedar maze - or do they?! Watch as the Grannies become "adies" of the prairie and travel in period costume on a very hot summer day in a first-class horse drawn carry-all.

202: Poland_ Warsaw and Krakow, Sophisticated Sister Cities

Join the Grannies as they seek hidden treasures in restored Warsaw. They stroll through a park dedicated to Chopin filled with beautiful gardens surrounded by 18th century palaces. In Krakow, the city of the dragon, they experience the cultural seat of Poland - its significant churches, old castles, interesting shops and, of course, good food. Not far from Krakow is the famous salt mine. They go 300 feet below ground and see spectacular carvings and rooms all made out of salt! And finally, walk with the Grannies as they visit Auschwitz and Birkenau, two moving monuments and museums that capture a sad part of world history.

203: Cruising the Caribbean

The Grannies decided to do something different - take a cruise - and cruise in a big way, on a "really" big ship, the Crown Princess. They were off to the Caribbean to visit the glamorous islands of- Barbados, Antigua, Tortola, St Lucia, and St Thomas. Meet the local artists and craftsmen from each island as they create beautiful and unique works, all with a backdrop of breathtaking beaches and vistas. They seek out monkeys in Barbados and walk the same paths as pirates. The Grannies discovered more than they expected and made meaningful people connections that confirmed that the Caribbean is still one of the most energizing and inspiring places to visit.

204: Buenos Aires - European Charm with a Latin Beat

Buenos Aires where the charm of Europe mixes with the soul and beat of Latin America - it sizzles with energy! The president's house in the middle of the city is called Casa Rosada - Pink House - and where on its balcony Evita charmed millions. The Grannies experienced it all - a Gaucho museum, the sultry and seductive Tango, a visit with a noted silversmith who makes authentic Gaucho artifacts, and forays into local markets. Watch as they are serenaded by a "gentleman" singer, and journey with the Grannies on a Busquebus (a fast boat/ferry), to Colonia, Uruguay and take a stroll through its history. Walk with the Grannies on the "Street of Sighs" where former African slaves were quarantined before being sent to Brazil and other parts of South America

205: Montevideo - Uruguay's City of the Drums

Montevideo, Uruguay's capital city is home to one of the oldest opera houses in Latin America. This city and its people proved to be a wonderful surprise. Montevideo is a colonial city making a concerted effort to restore and renovate thousands of structures that date back over 100 years, and are succeeding! The Old Town is lively and the pulsating rhythms of drums and chatter can be heard during the evenings and well into the night. The Grannies meet with the active Afro-Uruguayan community and learn how their art of drum making and culture has shaped the country's soul. In good measure Uruguay has its great food "Chivitos", the Tango and surprisingly exceptional wines. This country and its capital Montevideo are poised to be a new hot-spot destination in South America.

206: Toronto - A Cultural and Ethnic Mix

The Grannies visit Toronto, a city renowned for its architecture, museums and colorful ethnic neighborhoods - Chinatown, Cabbage Town and Caribbean Town - to name just a few. It's a city with lots of energy. Watch as they try their hand at "throwing pots" in the well-regarded Gardiner Museum. And judge for yourself, if they master the labor-intensive art, of making Chinese dumplings with a legendary in China Town. With "nimble fingers" they contribute their sewing skills to "Caribana" costume making. Explore an Inuit Art gallery, search for a ghost at sprawling Casa Loma and learn how a 30-foot floating dragon lantern is constructed by artisans.

207: San Juan - Bienvenidos, Paradise

The Grannies ventured into San Juan, Puerto Rico, a U.S. protectorate. The locals call themselves Boriquens, a Taino Indian word meaning "strong men" and take pride in their Spanish, Native and African heritage. The island is beautiful everywhere - from the mountains of El Yunque to both of the oceans that lap warmly along its shores. The Grannies visit a coffee plantation, learn about the tradition of Paso Fino horses, and climb to see the world-famous Arecibo Radio Telescope - the largest in the world. While in Ponce and its near neighborhoods, the Grannies visit archeological digs that contain some of the most well maintained petraglyps. Meet an artist who makes colorful masks from coconut husks, a poet who also paints miniature doors, a multi- generational family of jewelers, and kick back in colorful "casitas" on the beach at Villa Hau. The music of this island - "Salsa"- is contagious and Grannies moved with its beat throughout their visit.
